I took my cats, FluffKatt (Fluff Cat) and Tinker (Short-haired Cat), to get Christmas photos done! …the outcome is absolutely adorable too. Earlier in September, I won a giveaway, and it involved a pet photo session from Jeannie Francis’ Pet Pics. Wonderful person, excellent photographer! I’m just going to have to have these pictures speak for themselves!Continue reading My Cat’s First Photoshoot

My husband and I visited the opening of Evan’s Orchard‘s sunflower festival and it was so fun! We took many cute photos and even enjoyed some ice cream in the fields! This year there are two fields (back in 2019 I went with a friend and only remember one field) being the sunflower field and zinnia field! Both were so pretty and perfect for photo opportunities! Tickets are just $12.00 per adult!Continue reading Evan’s Orchard – Sunflower Festival
With the rise of the pandemic and vaccines made more accessible people are scattered over the board of Corona. Whether they’re thinking it is a hoax, it is man made, it is going to take over yadda yadda I felt it important to go ahead and take mine. Now this is a blog post. Not a news story so please keep that in mind. I am also not trying to “fear monger” or discourage anyone to not be vaccinated. I am not an anti-vaxxer however, when it comes to Covid-19 vaccinations as of right now, I believe it should be a choice. Not forced nor pressured. I am not going to talk about politics in this blog, just why I chose to be vaccinated and my experience with the J&J vaccine. WHICH UPDATE: They have put a pause on the Johnson and Johnson Vaccine. I feel so reassured. (LOL) Below I will tell you why I chose it, How I signed up to get it and how it felt and what side effects I had.
The reason I decided to get vaccinated was because and I’ll be honest. It was 1 shot and done if I chose the Johnson and Johnson Vaccine and even though they put a pause on it, I’m still happy I chose that vaccine in particular. I am deathly afraid of needles so in my mind, one shot that’s it was all it took to convince me and I wanted to get it over with in case places and planes started making it mandatory. I didn’t take it to “obey” I also didn’t take it to “do my part”. I just wanted to. I also have family and friends that are susceptible to this virus so I felt I had a duty to help slow the spread their way. Now people have argued with me that I can still spread it and even if I still wear my mask. You can call me a crazy liberal or a pro-masker I don’t really care cause I’m neither. Again, I am for choice BUT wearing a mask is really the least anyone could do to stop the spread or slow it down anyway. I hope for a life someday where things are back to normal. That is another reason why I chose to be vaccinated. Again, it should be your choice and nobody else’s.
How I Signed Up to Get It – How You Can Too
One day I was honestly just curious about the vaccines and did my research and I knew I wanted the J&J if I needed it. I knew I couldn’t get the vaccine at my doctor’s office which was unfortunate as I would have felt so much more comfortable in that setting with my doctor whom I trust, but in the end getting it done at Kroger wasn’t all that bad.
When googling where I could get the vaccine in my area I found this website, https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/covid-19/reporting/vaccinefinder/about.html and I scrolled down to the middle of the page and it looked like:
So I simply followed the steps. So if you have no clue where to get vaccinated I would highly suggest using that tool. You can also call around which I actually called Kroger before scheduling online just to see what vaccine I’d be getting so If you do schedule online and you have a preference then definitely also give that pharmacy a call to make sure that is what they’re giving at that time. At this moment there is a pause on the vaccine I chose, Johnson & Johnson so I don’t believe anyone is scheduling those at this moment. Who knows, those of us who took J&J may be entitled to compensation one day. (I’m sorry, I know I shouldn’t joke but this is how I cope cause it is kind of scary how these vaccines came out so fast and now there is a serious pause on the one I just took so, I joke to cope I hope I don’t offend anyone as that is not my intentions.)
So after I signed up I arrived on Thursday April 8th 2021. I went into my local Kroger pharmacy and I checked in I gave my ID and insurance card to her and she gave it back I can’t remember if I signed anything but I’m pretty sure I did. I didn’t read it though. She told me to have a seat and wait in line. Of course I had my mother with me. When I called prior as I was setting this appointment up I made sure to ask if my mother could be there by my side as I do have a phobia of needles. She said that was totally okay; they did allow my mom to go back with me. The shot was actually super quick, it felt like a pinch it didn’t really hurt until the needle pulled out of my skin. (That phrase just made my skin crawl lol) It was over in 3 seconds. afterwards, my arm started to feel heavy and sore.
How It Felt and The Side Effects
I have been honest thus far and will continue to be brutally honest. It felt like doo-doo. I actually kept tabs on Facebook because like the basic chick I am.. of course I posted a #vaccinated selfie to feed. In the comments is where I kept track of my symptoms and what times they occurred. As you can see below:
So here where my symptoms in order:
- 8:30 am – Took the J&J vaccine – Arm was sore immediately after.
- 12:45 pm – Soreness and I started to feel super drowsy.
- Between 1 & 4 pm – Headache developed. Whole body started feeling sore.
- 4:23 pm – Headache and Soreness, Area where they punctured was swelling and very sore. Still very drowsy.
- 5:30 pm – Chills, sensitive to touch, nausea, couldn’t really move my arm without pain worsening, headache worsened. Was unsure of fever and I was very cold.
- 6:59 pm – It was getting harder to breathe and still had all those other symptoms mentioned earlier.
- Around 7 pm – Mom and dad came over because I was crying on the phone with them, they brought a thermometer and at that time I had a very low-grade fever some Tylenol was kicking in.
- Between 7 pm & 8 am NEXT DAY – I barely got any sleep but I felt a little better when I woke up.
- 8:08 am – I started to feel better Still had body aches and head as well as the arm were throbbing.
Saturday April 10th 2021, I was 99.9% feeling myself again and much better. It was rough. I cried a lot cause the pain like, I am not at all pain tolerant. It was just very traumatic. I will say that if they invalidate the J&J vaccine, I’m not taking another. However, I am still happy I chose to get vaccinated. It is now over with for me and I will just continue to wear a mask and be hopeful that things will be normal again some day. I refuse to call all this the “new normal” It will not be normal until masks are no longer required, until people quit dying, until we can look back in that rearview mirror and throw a middle finger up to the pandemic. It isn’t normal until it is over. We got this though!

Thanks so much for reading this blog post! This isn’t normally what I would write but so many had asked me to do so; I wanted to respect those wishes! I just want to say that I respect you no matter what you choose to do. You don’t have to take the vaccine, it is fully your choice. So please respect me and my choice that I made. Thank you. Please consider subscribing to the blog! I normally blog about: Self-Love, Fashion, Beauty and All Things Local & Kentucky! I’m also on Instagram! Check out my Instagram by clicking here and consider following for more! I would love to connect with you! I will also keep everyone updated as I plan on having a check up since there is a big issue with the J&J vaccine with ages between 19-48. I’m 22 so of course it is making me anxious. I am not regretful though.
Feel free to comment anything you wish below it could be your experience, why you chose or why you didn’t choose or won’t choose the vaccines or whatnot. Just be respectful. I love having adult conversations!
Every mother/father/caregiver only wants the best for their children. I, myself, even though I have no kids also want the best for theirs and your children. I have compiled a list below of the top FIVE daycares that are located in Jessamine Co. Ky that real people have nominated! Those who nominated these businesses/daycares weren’t allowed to nominate their own or nominate any if it was owned by their family or friend. I can assure you this list is genuine and I was not paid to promote. I simply just want to share the best!
A lot of you may or may not already know but I, myself have been in childcare for 7+ years. I have worked as a babysitter for more than 5 people overnight and during the day. I worked at a summer camp in North Carolina during the summer of 2017; and I have worked at two different daycare facilities. None of the daycares I mention are any that I have worked for as again, I want this to be genuine. I have also been a part of the Lunch Buddy Program at Wilmore Elementary which is where they assigned college students who attended Asbury University a child who really needed a mentor or someone to keep them company. As you can tell after all that being said I really enjoy being around children and just having a positive impact on their lives is just amazing and it really gives you a different outlook on life. This is why I wanted to do this, so I hope my list helps you all! DISCLAIMER: there is no particular order however I went by how many nominations they had from top to bottom. I was able to ask those who nominated these daycares their opinions and input. I was not able to go in any in person due to COVID as I didn’t want to potentially harm anyone. All interviews were done via email and if you would like to add information then please email me at email@example.com or comment below with your opinions! Thank you.
Children’s Choice Learning Center
Over 10 people total nominated this daycare making it #2 on the list! I asked what the same questions and their response:
Our main goal when starting our facility was to provide the children of Jessamine County the opportunity to build a relationship with God. We’re also proud of the educational and emotional support we are able to provide them. Our philosophy is to help each child grow and learn to their fullest ability. We pride ourselves on treating each child as if they were our own. We begin caring for children as young as six weeks, up to children twelve years of age. We have a lot of children who begin their daycare career with us as infants and later age out, we love seeing past children out in the community. Our center prides itself in showering kids with love, redirection and other age/daycare appropriate tactics for behavior issues. Our teachers educations vary from CDA, college, state and federal mandated certifications, plus more. Children’s Choice Learning Center prides itself in providing quality childcare and we would love the opportunity to serve more children in our community. – Daycare Director, Barbara Miller.
Children’s Choice Learning Center has been in business for over 5 years. Below is a recent photo of their staff.
ABC Learning Academy
Over 10 people also have nominated this daycare.
ABC Learning Academy is located off on North Main St. in Nicholasville. They have been in business for quite a while and from what some of the parents have said is that and I quote, “the best daycare I have ever enrolled my children in. They really care for the kids and they are definitely good people. I trust them wholeheartedly with my babies”. They take in between infancy and school age kids. This is a licensed daycare! They responded to my questions and here are their answers:
My Mom (Debbie Edwards) and I both have a degree in Elementary Education and a true passion for children which led us to the decision of opening a daycare. I have been in the daycare field since 2007 and my mom was a teacher. You hear so many heartbreaking stories about daycares, it was important for us to provide a safe and loving environment for the children off Jessamine Co. We are a family owned and operated business! My Mom and I both serve as the owners and directors and are constantly involved in the daily operation of the daycare. We believe all children are unique and every child deserves to be loved unconditionally. Each of our rooms are designed to meet the different needs of each child therefore, providing a safe and equal opportunity of learning. [They have 6 weeks to 12 yrs] [I asked about how they go about behavioral issues] Positive reinforcement and redirection! We focus on rewarding and praising positive behaviors instead of disciplining negative actions. The owners both have a degree in Elementary Education. Several of our staff have either obtained or working to obtain their directors credentials.

Bellaire Creative Christian Academy
9 People nominated this daycare and again no response but that is totally okay! I still managed to get some info from parents whose children are enrolled here so I hope their words can help you further contact this amazing business!
Bellaire Creative Christian Academy actually has two locations! One is in Nicholasville off 27, while the other is in Lexington! I talked to a couple parents and they all dais they love having their children are cared for by this facility. One mother said that her children bring art home all the time and it just brings a smile to her face because she was with another daycare that didn’t even bother with working with children in such creative ways. So if you’re looking for a very creative daycare that is Christian-based then this may be a fit for you! They take in children from ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. You can find out more by clicking this link that will take you to their “about us” page on their website: https://www.bellaireacademy.com/about-us !
Bellaire Christian Academy has been in business for over 10 years.
Academy of Little Learners
7 people nominated this one and I had to share it! I talked with one mother who loves having their child here and I hope her words encourage you to look into this daycare facility! Again I had no response but that is perfectly fine! I found some helpful information that I will list in the next paragraph!
Academy of Little Learners is a daycare located in Nicholasville Ky off of Wilmore rd. They take ages from infancy to 12 as well as most daycares do in this list. I talked to one father and he says this is an outstanding daycare and his child is not at all afraid to go in the mornings (there is a good sign!!!). or years his child has been terrified of daycares due to separation anxiety but he says it looked like they really helped with that issue. He recommends everyone with an ‘anxious’ child to give this daycare a shot! You can also find out more by clicking this link tot heir website: https://lsettles9.wixsite.com/acadoflittlelearner/about

We have talked about how you can let go of the past and all that is holding you back, we’ve went over ways you can get over your fears and so much more. Now it is time to start putting yourself first! In this read, I will share ways that has helped me personally as well as others including my closet friends. By the end of this post you will be ready to finally start putting yourself first and hopefully without any guilt whatsoever.
First, let’s talk about WHY you need to start putting yourself first. For one, you’re probably exhausted right now and you NEED to REST! Second, it is a form of self love that everyone needs to practice! Third but not last, It helps us live a healthier life. Your physical an mental (possibly even spiritual) health depends on you practicing forms of self love… which include, putting yourself first! Now, we all heard about Jessie Gallan, the 109 year old woman who said her secret to living a long life was to avoid men! Now this could just be her adding humor and wanting to make people laugh but I think she was serious! Maybe avoiding men and being a strong independent woman was her way of putting herself first. Everyone puts themselves first in all kinds of ways. So to sum this up we can for sure interpret that her answer was, “self-love”.
Now let’s get to the ways we can put ourselves first:
- Take care of your body – Take regular bubble baths or Epsom salt baths to help relieve tension and soreness in your body and be sure to moisturize all over after you get out of the shower. I like to take baths, relax, then shower and moisturize. It helps a ton! Also know when to quit, put your physical body first. Don’t forget to wash your hair and use a nice hair mask and face mask while bathing! Foot creams are also nice, especially if you’re on your feet all the time.
- Write down your priorities – list things you will put first on your list to help you put yourself first.
- Make sure to keep a balance between helping others and helping yourself to needs and wants – to help you balance simply create a T chart or go with the flow and remember there needs to be a balance. Balancing helps you put yourself first while allowing yourself to help others when they need it. Helpful when you have children or a significant other.
- Make time for sleep – sleep purposely and plan to get 9 hours of sleep each week night. I say plan because I know there are women (maybe even men) reading this that have babies. Plan to get 9. Psychologists recommend 7-9 hours of sleep with 9 hours being the best you can aim for since there is a thing called REM (which you can look up, it is a big deal though when it come to sleeping in 3 hour increments).
- Take care of your mind – Unfollow and unfriend toxicity and allow yourself to turn off the electronics once in a while. Resist lurking people’s profiles that tend to upset you and resist the urge to read the comment section of your local news stations on Facebook. Better your life in these ways and I promise affirmations will help you think in a more positive light.
- Start saying “no” – saying no when that is what you want or need to say will literally change your life. I promise you.
- Know when to ask for help – put your pride aside and understand that sometimes we need a little help. Like, if you’re exhausted and have a lot of chores and the baby won’t stop crying — call for help. Don’t feel ashamed. If you’re overwhelmed with studying, ask for help so you can understand or take initiative and ask to copy notes if you had to take a rest day from school (college). Know when to ask for help, and don’t feel ashamed.
- Know that you’re important, but don’t overdue yourself – You are important! People need you and some rely on you, however, don’t let that take over your life. Make some time for you. Create windows for when you will allow yourself to help others and create windows where you give time to only you.
- Eat Healthier – Keeping in mind what you put into your body will help you in so many ways. Your body will thank you.
Now keep in mind, once you start putting yourself first you will feel guilty, as it is new to you and you are figuring out the balance. Remind yourself why you need to put yourself first and that it is okay to feel guilty but you don’t have to feel guilty. You may have feelings where you feel selfish, shake those ideas out of your head because practicing the ways to put yourself first I gave you are anything but selfish! Most of those things are necessities!
If you feel that people will judge you or they’re thinking bad of you because you’re putting yourself you must let go of those thoughts and if they come at you in negative ways they are toxic, you may need to cut them off, or simply let them know why and ENCOURAGE THEM to put themselves first too.

Some More Blogs Like This One:
Letting go is something hard to do sometimes I know this from experience after experience. I have lost connections with good friends of my past, I have had to let go of situations that have caused me trauma even at a young age. I have tried to suppress anger, guilt, sadness only for it to go south and never leave – to be forever engraved into my skull. (I get poetic sometimes, sorry if that was too dark!)
There are so many people in this world that have felt what I felt, or feel what I feel which is why it was important for me to start this series on selfcare and selflove as well as body positivity. I don’t want to get too much into my story this early on in the series as well as since I created this blog for all of us! I want to help, not sulk or make this about me. This is about all of us who have felt these negative emotions and gone through tough situations. Read ahead to learn the best tips on how we can let go of this weight we carry on our shoulders that do in fact, affect the way we live day after day. It is time for us to let go and live as our best selves!
I know many people tell you to do this, listen to them. It really does help when you distance yourself from things that no longer serve you for the good. Whether it be people, a thought, a situation, etc. It is time to put a wall between you and that said item.
Don’t Focus on the Outcomes!
Don’t get yourself invested and obsessive over what is going to happen. This just causes unnecessary stress that you really don’t need at the moment. Instead, have faith. Have faith in yourself knowing that whatever happens, it will only result in you getting stronger and more self-aware. When you trade fear for faith it tends to really help build your confidence and mind in positive ways. This is a part of self-growth individuals deserve to recognize.
Talk About It!
Everyone dreads talking about their feelings for so many irrelevant reasons. We think we are a burden or a “Debbie-downer” however, none of those are the case! Talking about the way we feel should NOT make someone uncomfortable if they are a real friend or a good family member. We also can always contact professional help to listen to us too. Don’t feel ashamed, every single person on this planet has something going on in their lives. Talking about your feelings will help you. Don’t you even think about being “edgy” and push your emotions away to avoid talking about it. Maybe if it is really hard for you to talk about your feelings, invest in a journal! I journal all the time and it really does help me tons.
Let Go of the Idea That You Can Control the Situation!
Let go of the idea that you can control people or the situation. You do however, have control over yourself; keep composure and analyze what is exactly going on. Will this situation serve you no matter the outcome? Now is the time to make decisions for yourself so don’t stress about others or the situation itself. You can remove yourself from the equation altogether if that is also what you want.
Stop Blaming Yourself!
Stop blaming yourself and others (depending on situation). Something I tell everyone including myself is that if you continue to blame yourself (or others), you will never get over the situation no matter what other tips or pieces of advice you follow. You must take one breath in, and out. Realize that it is over now and you are in complete control about what you do with that realization. Stop blaming yourself for starters.
Accept What Has Happened!
Once something is over with it, this kind of goes hand in hand with the fact you need to stop blaming yourself. Accept what happened and think of ways you can move on. Simple as that! Following all these other tips can also help you accept what happened.
Another tip that goes hand in hand with how you need to stop blaming! You must forgive that person or yourself so you can fully let go of this situation. I know how hard it is to forgive others, it can be so so hard. But we must not forget our worth and how people do have the chance to change. Even if they can change – if you don’t want to see them again, you can still forgive them.
Practice Being in the Present!
Practice being in the present and aware of what is going on right this second. This will help you keep going after you finally have let go what you were holding onto. Practice not only being in the present for your emotions but practice for yourself. Being in the present is a beautiful thing. Focus on living life right now. It is time for us to quit sobbing over the past. We cannot change what has happened/occurred in our past, but we can change what happens in our future (depending on what it is of course). Don’t even bother worrying about the future either! Live in the now.
Focus On Yourself!
After all is said and done… FOCUS ON YOURSELF! We need to start focusing on ourselves now, our own lives. Do what is best for you and not for others (unless of course your kids are involved).
Engage in Selfcare & Selflove
Finally, engage in some selfcare activities. Start journaling (I have great February Journal Prompts for you to use over on my Instagram just click here!), start doing things you love or enjoy, start putting yourself first… start living for you and not them!!! Selfcare is one of the best practices in the world – and most of the time, free!
