Caitlin Lamb for Nicholasville City Commissioner

Who I Am

I am a mom, a Nicholasville native, and an active community member. I have previously worked with small businesses and event organizers through blogs and consultations. I earned my associate’s degree from BCTC and my Bachelor of Science in mass media communications in ’24 while juggling being a new mom. I am married and love my little family so much, and I just want our community to improve and be better for our children and their generation. Our children deserve a town that keeps them in mind when making decisions. In fact, every resident in Nicholasville deserves a city that keeps every single person who resides within it in mind when making decisions.

I want to put the Community back into the Commision.

What I Stand For

My Core Priorities (include but not limited to):

• Community First – Our community deserves representatives who listen and advocate for residents’ ideas and concerns.

• All Voices Heard – From youth to seniors, families to longtime residents, our community works best when every voice is included.

• Necessary Upgrades – As we grow, we must invest in upgrades that support that growth. Let’s focus on strengthening our town before expanding our population.

• Residents Over Developers – Growth isn’t necessarily negative, but all this unplanned growth has been a nightmare. We need development that respects green space, reduces flooding risks, improves traffic flow, and doesn’t overwhelm our neighborhoods. I want to help make sure future planning benefits residents first, not just the builders/developers.

• Safety Matters – Our parks, skate park, and community areas should be places kids can enjoy safely, not spots parents feel they have to avoid. I want to work with our police, local groups, and city departments to improve maintenance, increase visibility, and create youth friendly programs that actually keep kids engaged and off the streets.

• Affordability – Rent, utilities, and basic needs shouldn’t be climbing faster than our paychecks. While no city can fix every economic issue alone, we can make better decisions about development, utilities, and housing options so current residents aren’t being pushed out.

• Local & Small Business Growth – This town needs more locally owned businesses to shop from. I want to make it a smoother process for local businesses to establish and operate in Nicholasville.

• Accessibility/Transparency – Many of you mentioned not always feeling heard or as informed as you all would like to be. As Commissioner, I will push for clear communication, easier access to information, which includes both online and offline efforts. I also want to make it easier for community members to speak during our city commission meetings.

Breakdown of My Flyer (As Shown Above)

More Transparency:

• Accessible Workshops: I’ll push to live-stream and archive all city workshops so you’re never out of the loop.

• Active Social Media Presence: Will use all practical outlets to inform residents, including offline efforts.

Residents Over Developers:

• Infrastructure First: I am proposing a Concurrency Requirement – a development cannot be approved unless the necessary infrastructure (roads, schools, etc.) is already in place – for ex.: if the road can’t handle 100 more cars, we don’t build 100 more houses until the roads can handle 100 more houses! (Proposing this Summer!)

• Protect Our Resources: I will vote NO on data centers that drain our water and power, which in turn only raise utility costs for residents.

• Preserve Our Rural Landscape: Development should respect our green space and reduce flooding risks, not increase them.

Safer Community:

• Modern Park Safety: Smart-locks for bathrooms and specialized lighting to keep our kids’ playgrounds and areas clean and safe.

• Senior & Community Protection: Classes on fraud and phishing. We must protect our seniors, and others in the community from scammers.

Roads and Local Economy:

• Applying Pressure: A “State Road Dashboard” to hold Frankfort/the State accountable for delays on roads and projects, such as US-27 and KY-29. (Will take State cooperation!)

• Main Street Revival: Continue to improve the positive atmosphere Main Street can provide for businesses and the community.

Please Note:

These ideas represent my vision and the priorities I’ve heard from you, our residents. While no single Commissioner can act alone, I am committed to bringing these proposals to the table, working alongside my fellow leaders, and being the persistent voice needed to turn these goals into local law.

My Stance on Data Centers

Data Centers may have been around for a while, but there is no reason we need as many as our nation has seen pop up here recently in the last year alone. I will not vote in any way on matters that support the development of a data center in Nicholasville, and I would encourage and do highly encourage County Leaders to follow suit when making decisions that have a real impact on our residents here in Jessamine County, Kentucky. I also highly encourage leaders in surrounding counties and cities to hold this perspective and view. There is no need for data centers in our town.

I have signed the pledge to Demand Data Center Accountability! See other candidates that have also signed the pledge! Here’s the link: CLICK HERE.
