Mariah Carey has defrosted and claimed it is time to celebrate the Holidays! While nobody is skipping Thanksgiving, we are choosing to celebrate the Holiday season early, around Turkey Day, and there is nothing wrong with that. While I’ve been getting in the Christmas and Winter mood, I have also had my eye out for fun activities I want to do that others may wish to partake in this year!

Fun Winter Activities to Do With Kids or Without Kids
Whether you have children or not, these activities are fun to do! Take your kids or leave ’em with the babysitter. It is up to you. Below is a list of fun activities that involve getting out of the house – and for this section, I will be referring to activities in the Lexington, KY, area. Even if you aren’t in Kentucky, you can also find similar places and things to do.
- Plan a Trip to Shaker Village – Shaker Village comes alive during the Christmas time!
- Go Ice Skating – Lexington, KY, has two spots for this: the Lexington Ice Center and Triangle Park.
- Go See The Nutcracker – Many ballet classes put this on, but one I love to go see is The Nutcracker, presented by the Kentucky Ballet Theatre at the Lexington Opera House.
- Southern Lights (Are On) – See Christmas lights and have family fun at the Kentucky Horse Park.
- Attend the Lighting of Your Local Town’s Christmas Tree!
- Go Sledding in The Neighborhood!
Fun Activities To Do Inside
Here is another list of Holiday fun you can do while staying warm at home (or at a friend’s house).
- Host a Cozy Gathering – Have a few friends over to bake and decorate cookies, watch Holiday movies, make Christmas cards, make sweet treats, and enjoy an evening with those who make you laugh!
- Host a Paint Party – Paint parties have gathered a lot of momentum in the last few years and are super fun. Get together some of your friends, canvases, paint brushes, and paint, and have a nice evening of painting with Christmas music playing in the background.
- Make Ornaments – This activity is fun, especially with your kiddos, and involves tapping into everyone’s creative side!
- Make Cocoa Bombs – Make some homemade cocoa bombs!
- Build a Gingerbread House – You can even make this a new family competition each year!
Overall, there is much to do at this time of the year! You can attend local events, connect with your community or old friends, and even spend time with loved ones at home! The possibilities are truly endless.
