Gift Guide for a Mother-to-Be

Do you have a mother-to-be that you need to shop for or want to shop for? Then you have come to the right place! In this guide, I will be sharing all sorts of ideas ranging from unique to budget-friendly. Whether the mom-to-be is your daughter, spouse, sister, in-law, or cousin – heck, even if it is your 3rd cousin twice removed, they will definitely appreciate the thought as it really is the thought that counts. Many pregnant women get left out during the holidays because some think it’s appropriate to buy things for their babies. Still, if this is her last Holiday that she will experience by herself (not counting her spouse), consider thinking of her and getting a gift she will love. Use this guide I created to help you. I am a mom-to-be, so I’m an expert when it comes to this.

Budget-Friendly Gift Ideas

There are many budget-friendly gifts that one can consider for a mother who is expecting! But put down the baby bottles – actually, no, add them to the cart, but add something else for her. Here are some ideas that are sure to keep your wallet happy.

  • “Coupon-Book” – Make her a coupon book that coincides with being a new mom! She may want time to bond with her baby but have chores around the house. You could add those chores to the coupon book, and whenever she just can’t muster the energy up to do the chore(s) herself, she can rely on you to do it. This is a very supportive and thoughtful gift that costs no money.
  • Journal – Gift a small journal if they’re the writing type!
  • Bake/make her favorite treat and slap a bow on it.

More Desirable Gift Ideas

These ideas are more desired by moms-to-be. I asked my due-date group for ideas, and this is what we all came up with.

  • Personalized Jewelry – USE THIS AS THE LAST RESORT. Sometimes jewelry can be nice when it is bought right and is actually cute and something women would want to wear. Some pieces are tacky, so before getting jewelry, really think about whether she would wear them or not, or else it would be a waste.
  • Food-Oriented Gift Cards – Doordash, her favourite restaurant, etc.
  • “Pampering” Gift Cards – Is there a baby bump-type spa around her? Then consider getting a gift card to that spa or even a nail salon so she can get pampered!
  • Robes – These are always appreciated. Try to get one with pockets and matching slippers.
  • At-Home Spa Gift Basket – Make her a basket full of stuff that she can pamper herself with at home!
  • A Monthly Pregnancy/Bump Box Subscription – Consider gifting her a subscription box that is targeted towards moms-to-be.

Unique Gift Certificate Ideas

These gift certificate ideas are unique and may not be expected, but they are a nice surprise.

  • Prenatal Massage Gift Certificate – This was kind of listed above, but I also think it is considered unique. Not a lot of people would think of this, and I, personally, would love this.
  • 4D/Fancy Ultrasound Belly Spa Gift Certificate – Some places that offer prenatal massages also offer these awesome ultrasound packages! If you’re in or near Lexington, Kentucky, then consider getting her a gift certificate to the Baby Belly Spa!
  • Gift Certificate for Cleaning Service – Get her a gift certificate for a cleaning service to clean her home. Especially if she is in the third trimester because we are so tired that it is physically exhausting just to even think about the mess in our homes. Thankfully, there are cleaning services. This would be a great and thoughtful gift – as long as they would be comfortable with the service coming into their home. There are a lot of reputable cleaning services. One I can suggest if you’re in or near Nicholasville, Kentucky, is Maid to Clean.

If None Above Work…

If none of the above are worth your while to gift, consider who she is. What does she like? What are her hobbies? What makes her happy? And if you genuinely have no clue, even after reading this post, ask her. Only a few people will come out and ask the mom-to-be what they want. Some may assume she wants something off her baby registry, which some might, but does she? Ask her. It is more considerate to ask rather than to get something she will most likely toss in a cabinet or closet somewhere and forget about. But the gift ideas above are clever, so consider something listed in this blog or ask the mom-to-be what she wants.
