Five Places You Need to Visit in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Everybody loves when it is vacation time and this year we took a vacation down south to Tennessee! We visited Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville. We did many things and I, unfortunately, didn’t take pictures of everything but the memories I/we made will forever live in our hearts! Here is a list of five things and activities you should do while in Pigeon Forge featuring extra stops we made! I’m also including two things we did the year before!

5. Eat at Frizzle’s Chicken Café

I added Frizzle’s Chicken Farmhouse Café as a place to visit because we never go to Pigeon Forge and skip this gem! They have robotic chickens and they are so fun to watch the chickens sing and dance. What makes it special is the atmosphere and of course, the food! I always get the chicken and waffles and have never left disappointed.

4. Visit the Hollywood Wax Museum

We visited the Hollywood Wax Museum last year and had a blast so of course, I’m adding it to this blog! It’s different which is why it’s worth it to check out! You can also buy an all-access pass that unlocks even more adventure!

3. Shop at the Three Bears

The Three Bears has so much to offer and even though it claims to be a general store, there is much more offered. I consider it a shopping center that has it all! They offer fair foods which are good if you need a quick bite to eat or just because! There is a candy store with amazing fudge and you can even see the rescued bears they have! It is a two-story shopping experience with so much to look at!

2. Watch a Show at the Comedy Barn

The Comedy Barn was very exciting! We watched felines do their tricks and if you know me, my weakness is cats. The show featured several skits and circus acts with a whole lot of funny moments and scripts. Even intermission was entertaining as there were several girls that would either sing or tap dance! This place is definitely a must-experience (at least once) place in Pigeon Forge and it’s right next to Frizzle’s Chicken!

1. Visit the Island

The Island has everything your shopping hearts desire! moonshine and wine (with free tastings), clothing, tons of food options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, toys, candy shops, and even entertainment like 7D rides! The Ferris wheel is a major attraction over at The Island! There was also an Old Time Photo studio, so of course, we did that! Did you really go to Tennessee without taking some old-time photos? Most would say, of course not.

There are so many things to do in Pigeon Forge, and many places to dine. Besides those mentioned above, here are some more things you should do, eat, or see:

  • Eat at the Old Mill – Their food is absolutely better than Cracker Barrel’s but has the same southern atmosphere. 10/10 for sure recommend for Breakfast.
  • Visit the Apple Barn down the road in Sevierville – We went during Summer but I do believe in the Fall this would be such a great place to go to!
  • Go Karts – There are arcades and go karts everywhere in Pigeon Forge, just pick one or try them all out!
  • Shop the Candy Stores – There are a lot of candy stores just as there is go kart tracks. I suggest even visiting more than one candy store! There is one in the Three Bears and they have some pretty delicious fudge!

Final Thoughts

Pigeon Forge has so much to offer and I truly hope this blog helps you decide on where to go and what to eat here and there! 5 Things to Consider When Moving

Earlier this year, my husband and I purchased our first home here in Kentucky! But since we started visiting Tennessee regularly, we have been looking into some options and planning for our future if we were to ever move to Tennessee. I have learned quite a lot when we first moved into our home and wanted to share some moving tips with you all! For this blog post, imagine you’re looking into Williamson County (Franklin), Tennessee.

1. Crime Rate & Cost of Living

First and foremost we must do our research and look at the crime rates of the places we’re interested in! For Franklin, TN I found that this website gave Franklin a B- rating and it stated that that meant it is safer than the average U.S city! But don’t just count on one website, really take time and research! Now, make sure you research the cost of living; in Kentucky, our sales tax is 6% while in Tennessee it is 7%. There is also a website I found that will do a comparison for you! It stated that Where I want to be was 12% higher than where I am when it comes to housing costs. That may not sound like much but it is a big change when you think about it. Nerd Wallet (the website) can also calculate/predict more than just the housing costs. For instance, it also stated that Healthcare is also 14% higher… On the bright side, transportation costs are 6% less!

2. Job Opportunities

Make sure you look into job opportunities in this area! When I searched LinkedIn gave me over one hundred hits on job offers. For me, I would look for a job in writing or journalism so I searched on and found at least 15 writing/journalism jobs on the first two pages that looked legit. Take into account the population which when recorded in 2019 stated, 238,412 people, resided in Williamson County.

3. Moving Service

When moving, there are quite a lot of moving services out there, but only a few stand out. Why may you need a moving service, you ask? Sometimes it just relieves the stress off of you. One of the most stressful events in one’s life is moving. Movers, take part of that stress away! I know of a good moving company in the Nashville area, Moving Solutions.

Let’s talk about Moving Solutions!

Moving Solutions is such a great business and their team is honest and quite hard-working. Moving Solutions provides residential and commercial moving services in Nashville, TN, Nashville Metropolitan Area, and surrounding areas. Franklin TN, being one of the areas. They also give FREE ESTIMATES which are also a stress relief! Get the price before you choose and pay.

They also have a long list of various services that could be helpful to you, such as, office moving, labor only, local moves, packing services, long-distance, senior moving, delivery services, piano, and pool table moving. They are also hot tub movers in Nashville, TN!

The fact that they do long-distance moving has me sold! Especially in this scenario, I have in this blog post! But to seal the deal for you, just give them a call at 866-923-2145.

When I saw that they donated 10% to local businesses that are or have been affected by the pandemic, I just had to share! Great people, amazing business! Check them out by clicking here!

4. Weather/Climate

Compare the weather/climate! See if you’d even be happy with the climate before moving so it doesn’t cause disappointment. Kentucky and Tennessee are very similar in their climates and both have very strange weather that likes to change in the blink of an eye so it would not be an issue for me or my husband!

5. “Is This Place a Good Fit For Me?”

Finally, this is where you’ll finish research the area to see if it’s ‘a a match’! Look into the restaurants, schools, shopping centers, things to do, subdivisions and housing areas, etc. to see if you’d be happy there! You’d be amazed at how many people move, only to be disappointed with the area and their surroundings. For example, let’s say I’m a partier and want to move to Nashville cause it fits my personality. Instead of doing extensive research, I decided to move there just off my knowledge of it being a popular city for tourists and great for parting in general… But I move to find out that it’s crowded, too noisy and I ended up spending all my savings because of that one thing that interested me. So then I start messing up on work, school, etc. This is why research is so important and why you want to look at more than just what there is to do and the cost of living. MAKE A T-CHART! For example, Franklin Tennessee would be a great fit for me and my husband because we both love cute subtle towns with things to do and beautiful scenery! There would be plenty of job opportunities for us both and the cost of living isn’t too bad. On the other hand, it will cost a ton starting out living there compared to just moving in the current state we already reside in. And it’s much more crowded than our quaint little town here in central Kentucky. Make sure you write all the pros, and all the cons.

Anakeesta in Gatlinburg, TN

You may have stumbled upon this blog either out of curiosity or because you’re planning on going and want to know what all there is to do there! First of all, Anakeesta is a huge outdoor adventure hub located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Fair warning, if you have a phobia of heights this may not be the place for you to visit… however, my husband who is scared of heights enjoyed himself! I’ll tell you how and why below. In this blog I will go over everything you may need to know (that I know) about Anakeesta before going, and how our trip went, and what all there is to do there! So buckle up and enjoy the ride!

What is There to Do at Anakeesta?

There are many things to do at Anakeesta, there is practically fun for the whole family! There is zip-lining, mountain coasters, gem mining, the treetop skywalk, challenge courses, and play areas! Me and my family done the treetop skywalk and had an absolute blast – though some of my party was a little scared, we went through with courage! It was so fun. Below you can find some of the skywalk pictured so you can get an idea! There are also restaurants, snack stations, gift shops, and much more sight-seeing opportunities such as the AnaVista tower which is also Gatlinburg’s highest point!

More About the AnaVista Tower:

There are at least 80 steps to climb up but they’re worth it when you arrive at the top! You can even see mountains as far as Kentucky (my home state)! I was the only one from my party to go up it, but once I was up there I felt so accomplished and the sights I saw were so beautiful, even in the rain! Below you can see pictured what I’m talking about!

Bathroom Access?

There are quite a few bathrooms with many stalls available throughout the villages! So you don’t need to worry!

Vista Gardens:

The Vista Gardens were so beautiful! You can view the photos below.

Many Photo-Ops Available!

Throughout you will see beautiful setups for photo opportunities! As you can see below, they’re all so creative and beautiful!

“I’m Scared of Heights, Can I still Go?”

There are three ways to get up the mountain! If you’re afraid of heights, sharp curves, etc. you may want to think long and hard about going. I’m talking like if you have a very strong phobia of heights. Because My husband who has a fear of heights handled the skywalk very well, but he doesn’t have a phobia; he just has a fear. What helped him was that the ropes on the skywalk were very sturdy and the bridges were quite safe! We also took the Ridge Rumbler (bus-type vehicle) up the mountain, so that is your best bet. For those not afraid of heights you can take an enclosed chondola or just plain open sky-lift up!

So keep in mind, you’ll get two things of pictures if you take the sky-lift, if not don’t worry they will take one before you choose your preferred method of transportation up the mountain. Just be sure you’re not wearing a green shirt as my husband did! (LOL)…
