The May Night Market – Nicholasville, Ky

This past weekend, the owner of Sweet & Sassy Jams & Jellies decided to host a Night Market here in Nicholasville alongside the owners of KY CBD Farmacy, which ended up being a blast for local shoppers like me!

There were plenty of vendors, which varied from handmade crafts to homemade food and Pigg’n Out, a locally based food truck!

List of Vendors:

  • All My Pretties – A local shop specializing in hand-crafted items such as earrings/a local business run by a young entrepreneur.
  • Quirky Bird Creations by Betsy Nickolaus – A cute local business that creates magical figures from tiny mushrooms to snails! Has something for all your fairy garden or your desk needs!
  • The Teal Pig is a local shop and boutique with all the cute accessories such as earrings, headbands, key wristlets, you name it.
  • Wildings Wanderlust is another local business run by a young entrepreneur who sells handmade items such as charms and jewelry.
  • Gigi’s Boutique – Another local boutique with a variety of home decor, clothes, and more!
  • McQuaintly Yours – Local business that offers body butter, scrub, soap, and more with various scents.
  • Crazy Girl Customs – The name of this local business tells it all! A great local business specializing in custom and hand-crafted gifts.
  • Shop Local Furniture – A local furniture shop that offers fantastic one-of-a-kind handpieces. Currently has quite a bit of wood bee traps as well, just an FYI!
  • A Little of This & A Little of That – A local business that also makes custom items and offers already made shirts and more.

More About The Market + My Thoughts

I got a few items but met so many businesses that I wasn’t aware of before, including businesses operated by young entrepreneurs, which I was stoked to see. There were a variety of vendors, but there was a variety of all kinds of items! Jams from Sweet & Sassy Jams & Jellys, CBD products by KY CBD Farmacy, accessories, home decor, etc. I had a great time and cannot wait for the next Night Market here in Jessamine! I believe I read somewhere that this Night Market will become a regular thing, every third Saturday of the month.

Thankfully, I had the chance to talk to the owners of Sweet & Sassy Jams & Jellies, Traci Ackerman & KY CBD Farmacy, Robert Matheny, and got their thoughts on the event; below are their responses.

“My reason for starting it was to help the local businesses that the county doesn’t seem to care about. The ones who are paying crazy high fees to do shows hours away just hold on in hopes somebody we voted in will change the situation downtown. I also was told by numerous people I would never be able to pull off a night market in the county, and it is successful. So when Robert and Rachel offered to let us use their parking lot, I decided to try it. I’m always up for a challenge. My favorite part of this last night’s market was my two vendors that were under 18 and still running a business like a boss. They inspired me.”

“My favorite thing was seeing the corner of bethel come back to life after covid! The community feeling was there and great. I worked with Traci to do this because she couldn’t find a venue, and I needed someone with her outgoing personality to make it happen there. Great teamwork to bring the community together.”

I highly recommend you all to try their products as well! The jam is delicious, and the CBD really works wonders. Both businesses local to Jessamine are amazing, so I was very stoked when they partnered to make this Night Market happen.

Here’s to more in the future!
