Caitlin Lamb for Nicholasville City Commissioner

Who I Am

I am a mom, a Nicholasville native, and an active community member. I have previously worked with small businesses and event organizers through blogs and consultations. I earned my associate’s degree from BCTC and my Bachelor of Science in mass media communications in ’24 while juggling being a new mom. I am married and love my little family so much, and I just want our community to improve and be better for our children and their generation. Our children deserve a town that keeps them in mind when making decisions. In fact, every resident in Nicholasville deserves a city that keeps every single person who resides within it in mind when making decisions.

I can remember when Nicholasville was a small town, but it has grown so much. Quite frankly, I believe it has grown too fast, and our infrastructure hasn’t kept up with it – which is why improving and upgrading infrastructure will be on my list of priorities if I am elected as City Commissioner for Nicholasville. I love this town and want nothing more than for it to be the best it can be for our community. I feel Nicholasville has so much potential when it comes to the services and amenities we offer, and can possibly offer in the near future. There is a lot to do, and I would be honored to work on getting it done for all of you.

What I Stand For

My Core Priorities (include but not limited to):

• Community First – Our community deserves representatives who listen and advocate for residents’ ideas and concerns.

• All Voices Heard – From youth to seniors, families to longtime residents, our community works best when every voice is included.

• Necessary Upgrades – As we grow, we must invest in upgrades that support that growth. Let’s focus on strengthening our town before expanding our population.

• Residents Over Developers – Growth isn’t necessarily negative, but all this unplanned growth has been a nightmare. We need development that respects green space, reduces flooding risks, improves traffic flow, and doesn’t overwhelm our neighborhoods. I want to help make sure future planning benefits residents first, not just the builders/developers.

• Safety Matters – Our parks, skate park, and community areas should be places kids can enjoy safely, not spots parents feel they have to avoid. I want to work with our police, local groups, and city departments to improve maintenance, increase visibility, and create youth friendly programs that actually keep kids engaged and off the streets.

• Applying Pressure – The state operated roads can be fixed, but it’s those that run the city that need to be applying the pressure on the state to fix them in a timely manner.

• Affordability – Rent, utilities, and basic needs shouldn’t be climbing faster than our paychecks. While no city can fix every economic issue alone, we can make better decisions about development, utilities, and housing options so families and individuals aren’t being pushed out.

• Clean up the Town – Trash, litter, and rundown areas impact everyone’s quality of life. I want to focus on improving basic upkeep and exploring community cleanup partnerships – not once a year, but consistently.

• Local & Small Business Growth – This town needs more locally owned businesses to shop from, aside from a gas station and a vape shop. We also need to do more to bring back the light of Main Street. A healthy downtown should include accessible parking, inviting spaces, and room for local businesses to thrive… not just government buildings. I want to work toward a downtown that feels alive, walkable, and worth spending time in. I want to make Main St. a Main Street worth visiting!

• Accessibility/Transparency – Many of you mentioned not always feeling heard or not knowing where money goes. As Commissioner, I will push for much more clearer communication, easier access to information, and honest conversations about spending, priorities, and results. I also want to make it easier for community members to speak during our city commission meetings.

What I Can Do For You:

As a candidate for City Commissioner there is a question I get asked often (understandably, of course) which is, “what can you do for me?”. My answer is simple, I want to work for you. I want to improve this city, and fight for change where change has been needed and is long overdue. I want to focus on issues that are important to the community that reside in the City of Nicholasville, as well as those around us that frequent our city whether they be visiting family or friends, using our roads to commute, and or for other various reasons. I want to listen to your concerns, ideas, praises, and get things done in a timely manner. Nicholasville has potential. We see it every day in our schools, our families, our neighbors, and the people who care enough to speak up. I’m running because I believe we can create a safer, cleaner, more community-centered city, one where our kids can grow up with pride, and where every resident feels heard.

So here is my question for you: what is important to you? What would you like me to do for you? If you have ideas, concerns, or experiences you want to share, my inbox is always open. Let’s do this together!
