Rating Breastmilk Storage Bags I Have Tried So Far

Hey there! I am almost 15 months postpartum/into my breastfeeding and pumping journey – so I feel it’s only fair that I share my thoughts and observances about breastmilk storage! Specifically, when it comes to breastmilk storage bags. I have tried over ten brands of bags, so let’s get into it!

Before we get into the ratings, I wanted to explain what makes a breastmilk bag, a great bag for me. The bag has to be strong, no leaks, easy to open, freeze flat well, and somewhat aesthetically pleasing to the eye. I can’t lie, I don’t like ugly bags (LOL) however, I do enjoy practicality more than the printed design when it comes to them. These are not rated in a particular order, but I will place my numerical rating of them next to the breastmilk storage bag name. This number (1-5) will demonstrate how likely I am to recommend the bag with 0 being not at all, and 5 being most definitely. If you disagree with any of these ratings, you’re valid and you deserve to have your voice heard! Make sure you voice your opinions in the comment section/replies below! And if you have any recommendations for breastmilk bags you want me to try, please also use the comment section to let me know what brand/bag you want me to try next! I will be regularly updating this blog post as I try more breastmilk storage bags as I continue through my breastfeeding journey – so make sure you also bookmark this webpage so you can come back and check when I update it! Also to add: when I talk about “one language” I mean that it is a bag that only features the English language. I am unsure if you are able to find these in any other languages, but I’m sure you can! I didn’t do that research (just an FYI). I also didn’t list the capacity of the bags because the measurements on most bags are not accurate anyway. But I usually bag 4 ounces per bag too, since our milk changes with baby so they don’t have to actually (usually) eat more than 4 ounces. Always talk with your pediatrician and a breastfeeding specialist if you have any questions or concerns about feeding your baby! Anyways, enjoy!

Rating Breastmilk Storage Bags

Grownsy Temp-Sensing – 0

One language, 3 label spots (name, date, volume), has room to write, does not freeze flat well. Unsure if they tend to leak. Easy to open! They’re cute, but made more for the on-the-go pumpers who use manual breast pumps. They are also temperature sensing!

Avg. Cost – $16.99/130 ct.

Motif Medical – 2

One language, 2 label spots (name/date and volume), has very little room to write. Doesn’t freeze totally flat, but flat enough. These don’t leak on me. HARD TO OPEN! They’re not super pretty, but they do the job and many other breastfeeding moms love them.

Avg. Cost – $15.99/100 ct. (I’d get them free w/my insurance though)

Unimom – 0

One language. 3 label spots (name, date, time), has a decent amount of room to write. Easy to open, and freezes flat just okay. Unsure if they leak. I wouldn’t ever buy these again (TBH). Not cute, too expensive for what they are in my opinion.

Avg. Cost – $29.99/100 ct.

Mama Bear – 0

(Amazon brand) Bilingual, 4 labels (date, name, volume, time), has some room to write. Doesn’t freeze flat well. Material feels like it could leak, but I didn’t have any leak on me. Easy to open at least. They’re kind of cute, but not my fave for practicality.

Avg. Cost – $11.17/100 ct.

Evenflo – 2

One language, 4 label spots (measurement, time, day, and name), not much room to write. Doesn’t freeze flat well. These didn’t leak on me though! And they have cute encouraging quotes/messages on them that helped me in the beginning of my journey. They’re also easy to open. I tried not to be biased when rating this one because these were the first breastmilk bags I ever got to try and use.

Avg. Cost – $9.83/25 ct.

Momcozy Temp-Sensing – 2

One language, 2 label spots (capacity and date), not much room to write. These didn’t freeze completely flat, but they did freeze flat enough. My mom said that these would always leak on her so I haven’t bought them since. The temperature sensing feature is cool though. They’re also easy to open. Though not cute, they’re practical enough.

Avg. Cost – $9.99/50 ct. Or $19.99/100 ct.

Sposie – 5

Has 2 sided label spaces with a note side, and other side (name, date, no., measurement). Smaller space to write. These freeze flat pretty good! Have not leaked on us either. Kind of hard to open though. The designs are so fun!

Avg. Cost – Price Varies

Zomee – 4

Bilingual. 3 label spots (name, date, time), with very little room to write. These haven’t leaked on us at all! They also freeze flat well. Kind of easy, kind of hard to open, depends on the day for me I guess (LOL). They’re cute, and very practical.

Avg. Cost – $14.99/100 ct.

Lansinoh – 3

One language, 3 labels (date, time, name, and volume), with a decent amount of room to write. Freezes flat decently. I never had these leak on me, but many other women have said that these have leaked on them. Very easy to open!

Avg. Cost – $13.99/100 ct.

Medela (Old Style) – 4

One language. 2 label areas (name/date and amount) with lots of room to write. Freezes flat very well and hasn’t leaked on me yet. Not too cute, but very practical. Easy to open.

Idaho Jones – 5

One language. There is one block style space to label that has a good amount of space. These haven’t leaked on me yet. Easy to open, and they freeze flat pretty good. They also are so cute! They offer encouraging messages/quotes on them for the pumping moms. Very cute and practical!

Avg. Cost – $9.99/60 ct. Or $23.99/200 ct.

Nuliie Temp-Sensing – 5

One language. They’re temperature sensing, so these are a great alternative to the Momcozy temp sensing bags. 2 label spots (date and volume), and a decent amount of room to write. There’s also an easy tear/pour spout. Easy to open. These also come with a sealing clip! They freeze flat well, and they have yet to leak on me! I absolutely love these bags, even though they aren’t considered “cute”, they’re super practical and great for the price.

Avg. Cost – $14.99/100 ct.

Mini Moo Milk Co. – 5

One language. They kind of remind me of a mix between the Zomee and the Sposie breastmilk storage bags. 3 label spots (Date, Volume, & Notes), with decent room to write. There’s an easy-to-pour tear spout, and they are very easy to open! They freeze flat pretty well, and are super cute. I haven’t had any leak on me either. To sum it all up, they’re perfect!

Avg. Cost – $16.99/100 ct.

With All That Being Listed…

It ultimately will be all up to you – on what bag you deem to be “perfect” or the best! These are just my own opinions, and experiences. Though, I did keep in mind what others have said about the bags listed. Also if you were wondering, no. I wasn’t paid by any of these brands to rate these, I just felt like sharing this list because I don’t want anyone to waste their money because I know that breastmilk bags can be so expensive! Hopefully this list can help you in your next purchase/decision.
